Eric D. Holland

Eric D. Holland was born in 1965 in Illinois, growing up in a construction-trades family.  During high school, Eric earned varsity letters in three sports (baseball, basketball and golf) and began working construction during summer breaks.  Following high school, he attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, graduating in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and a minor in Economics. He attended the St. Louis University School of Law, where he was elected to the Law Review, graduating in 1991.  Eric worked his way through college and law school in the construction business, often working overtime with his father and learning the value of hard work and precision.  Since his graduation from law school, he has been admitted to the state bars of Illinois, Missouri and Michigan as well as federal courts in Texas and Colorado, and has been admitted to practice in cases from Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ohio, Iowa, and Arkansas.

Currently, Eric limits his practice to catastrophic railroad and transportation accidents, petroleum  and toxic tort litigation and other complex commercial litigation including business torts, fraud, antitrust and price fixing. He has litigated cases in over 20 States and has obtained a large number of record-setting jury verdicts and settlements.  Among those are an all-time record $17 million for a railroad plaintiff with a mild traumatic head injury, a $4 million dollar record verdict for a Florida railroad case, and $1.7 million dollar net verdict for a rail conductor who was sued by his employer for causing a $1,000,000 train wreck, which was a first of its kind result. Eric is regularly hired by the country’s most seriously injured railroad workers and their families, as well as a wide variety of other clients including publicly-traded companies, water districts, hospitals, villages, international companies, and consumers.

He is an active member of several trial attorney associations, has served on the Board of Governors for the Missouri Trial Attorneys, and is on the Steering Committee for the Midwestern Innocence Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to exonerating wrongly imprisoned people. Eric has been a frequent lecturer at seminars across the country and has authored multiple articles regarding litigation-related topics.  He has been elected a Super Lawyer for Missouri since 2006 and has held the “AV” rating of Martindale for over a decade.   Eric was also honored recently by DBusiness Magazine as one of metro Detroit's Top Lawyers.

Outside of the firm, Eric is an avid outdoorsman, mountain biker and skier, as well as coach of  youth baseball and basketball throughout the year.
