In a major win for rail labor across the country, the federal Administrative Review Board has ruled that the anti-retaliation provisions of the Federal Railroad Safety Act (FRSA) do indeed protect workers seeking medical treatment for non-work related medical conditions.

Eric Holland Interviewed by CBS News about $72 Million Talc Ovarian Cancer Verdict

A recent jury verdict in St. Louis resulted in the interview of the Holland Law Firm’s founding partner, Eric Holland, by CBS News in Los Angeles.  The verdict, for $72 million in actual and punitive damages, was returned by a jury in the 22nd Judicial Circuit of the State of Missouri, which is in the City of St. Louis.  CBS News sought comment from Holland about the case due to his handling of similar litigation in the same court, just two blocks from the Holland Law Firm.

The verdict was returned by a St. Louis jury for the death of a long-time user of Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder and Johnson & Johnson Shower-to-Shower products in the genital area which the jury concluded caused her ovarian cancer.  Evidence at trial demonstrated notice dating back to the 1970s of the increased risk of ovarian cancer in women who used talc-based products in the genital area.  The plaintiff’s lawyers pointed to a long series of internal company documents at J&J showing the company knew about these risks but took no steps...

Lawsuit Claims 8 Deaths, 2 Injuries at Kansas City Southern Grade Crossing Resulted from Local Hazards, Safety Issues

The Holland Law Firm filed suit this month against Kansas City Southern and their controlled entities on behalf of the victims of a horrible train wreck at a grade crossing in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.  The lawsuit claims that the KCS, through its railway subsidiary in Mexico, failed to remedy known hazards, resulting in the deaths of 8 people and injuries to 2 others.  The Holland Law Firm represents the families and victims of this tragic incident, who are seeking compensatory as well as punitive damages against the railroad.

Eric Holland Slated to Address Rail Union Convention

For the fourth straight year, Eric D. Holland will address the attendees of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen's (BLET) Southwest Convention.  The 2015 convention will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma from September 13th through 17th. Previous years' conventions have been held in Galveston, Texas, New Orleans, Louisiana and St. Louis, Missouri by the BLET, a division of the Rail Conference of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. In previous years, Mr. Holland and other nationally recognized FELA attorneys have provided extensive educational information and training to attending rail workers and their spouses.  The Southwest Convention has again tapped Mr. Holland to serve as coordinating counsel for this year's event.
